Report Online Exploitation & Sextortion
If you are currently being blackmailed, threatened, or extorted for money or images online, stop communicating with the predator immediately and report it to the authorities. Do not delete the messages or account information, as law enforcement will need them.
1. Report to the NCMEC CyberTipline
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) is the official national clearinghouse for reporting online exploitation.
- Submit a Report: CyberTipline Reporting Portal
- Call Center: 1-800-843-5678 (1-800-THE-LOST) — Available 24/7
2. Remove Explicit Images via “Take It Down”
If a predator has explicit photos or videos of a minor (under 18) and is threatening to share them, NCMEC runs a secure, anonymous tool that assigns a digital fingerprint (hash) to the image. This prevents it from being uploaded or shared across major social media platforms.
- Use the Tool: Take It Down by NCMEC
3. Report Cyber Crime to the FBI
Financial sextortion is a federal crime frequently operated by international syndicates. File an official complaint with the FBI’s internet crimes division.
- Submit a Complaint: FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)
Educational Resources for Parents
The best defense against online predators is awareness. We encourage parents to use these tools to start open, shame-free conversations with their children about digital safety.
