Walker’s Mission was born from profound loss and a determination to protect others. Walker Montgomery was a bright, kind, and well-loved 16-year-old — a young man who loved football, the outdoors, and life on his family’s farm. In a moment that forever changed his family’s world, Walker received an Instagram direct message that led to a sextortion scam and, only hours later, to his tragic death by suicide.
From that heartbreak came a purpose: to safeguard teens from the growing dangers of online exploitation and to empower parents to guide their children safely through the digital world. Walker’s Mission advocates for stronger protections, greater awareness, and renewed accountability — so no other family has to endure the pain of losing a child to online harm.

Walker Montgomery was a vibrant, kind-hearted 16-year-old who loved football, the outdoors, and life on his family’s farm. He had a joyful spirit that touched everyone around him and a deep faith in Jesus Christ that guided his words, actions, and friendships.
Growing up, Brother Dickie Bryan experienced firsthand the devastating effects of alcoholism on his family. His father was a workaholic, and his mother struggled with addiction, leading to a broken home and eventual divorce. These experiences instilled in him a deep burden to help others facing similar challenges.

Walker’s faith in Christ was at the center of who he was — shaping the way he treated people, faced challenges, and celebrated the joys in life. He had a natural gift for lifting others up, offering kindness without expectation, and pointing people toward hope and faith. His love for God, family, and friends shone in everything he did, leaving a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him.

Our Mission
Walker’s Mission is working to safeguard teens from online harm by advocating for parents’ right to ensure a safer digital world for their children. Born of personal tragedy, when Walker Montgomery took his own life as a result of online shaming and bullying, we are changing rules to empower parents to manage how their teens navigate the online world.
Turning Pain Into Purpose
When we lost Walker, we refused to let his story end in silence. After discovering that financial sextortion is a rapidly growing epidemic intentionally targeting young men, we knew we had to step into a new calling: ensuring that no other parent has to endure this unimaginable heartbreak.
Through relentless advocacy, we have channeled our grief into keeping Walker’s memory alive by fueling massive legal strides to protect children online, including:
- Walker’s Law (MS House Bill 1196): We successfully fought to criminalize financial sextortion in Mississippi, creating severe felony penalties for predators who target minors.
- The Walker Montgomery Protecting Children Online Act (MS House Bill 2531): Our ongoing landmark fight to hold massive social media conglomerates legally and financially accountable for their safety designs and the exploitation happening on their platforms.
We want Walker to be remembered not for how he died, but for the incredible light he brought into this world. Through Walker’s Mission, we will keep shining that light—working every day to educate parents, expose predators, and protect children in the digital age.
